The family of a woman who was launched 40 feet from a motorcycle when a drunken driver turned in front of her recovered a $7 million settlement.
When Kimberly Miller was 45, she was riding on the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle when Paul Torrey pulled in front of them. Miller was thrown from the bike and struck a pole. She suffered brain injuries and multiple fractures to her left leg and pelvis. She has impaired memor, and diminished speech and cognitive functions, requiring care at an acute nursing facility. Her boyfriend, who wasn’t a party in the case, died.
