Liz Claiborne changed its name to Fifth & Pacific to reflect the sale of its namesake brand and focus on lines including Juicy Couture and Kate Spade.

The change is effective May 15, when the company will start trading under the ticker FNP, according to a statement Wednesday. The New York-based retailer sold Liz Claiborne, created in 1976 for dressing women at work, Monet and other brands to J.C. Penney last year.
