The market reaction to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s decision to downsize and relocate its headquarters at the end of 2011 underscores contrasting views of the state of downtown Fort Lauderdale’s office market.

On one hand, some office professionals in downtown Fort Lauderdale touted the fact that one of the market’s highest profile tenants chose not to flee to the suburbs. The Sun-Sentinel moved from 56,000 square feet in the New River Center to about 30,000 square feet at the Broward Financial Centre.
