A jury awarded $15.5 million to a man who claimed a company breached a contract by not investing sufficient resources to make a profit from websites he sold, and as a result he was paid much less than he should have been able to collect had the contract been properly executed.

Matthew Horne contracted with World Publications and its founder, Tony Snow, to sell the company several websites involving the sale of boats and yachts. The deal involved an up-front payment plus payment based upon the sites’ earnings. Horne alleged the defendants failed to spend sufficient money on search engine optimization, updating listings and adding state-of-the-art features.
