An attorney representing Florida argued to a federal judge Tuesday that the administration of the taxpayer-supported Medicaid program for poor and disabled children has improved and there is no solid evidence of a systemic problem as claimed in a class action lawsuit.
Assistant Attorney General Albert Bowden told Judge Adalberto Jordan, a longtime Miami District judge who was recently confirmed to serve on the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, that the lawsuit uses only “anecdotal evidence” that patients are mistakenly dropped from the Medicaid rolls and any errors are well within reason.
