After 2½ years of testimony and more than 97 days of trial, a Miami federal judge finally has the case to decide whether the state of Florida failed to provide mandated health care to poor children through the Medicaid program.

Judge Adalberto Jordan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit is finishing up his district court cases with the lawsuit filed on behalf of needy children. He said Friday after hearing closing statements for the seemingly interminable bench trial that he hopes to have a decision by the end of summer.
