Apple, riding a wave of recent successes, announced that second fiscal quarter profit nearly doubled, reaching $11.6 billion, or $12.30 per share, for the three months ended March 31. That’s a 93 percent increase from $5.9 billion, or $6.40 per share, in the same period last year.
Revenue also soared, climbing by nearly 60 percent, to $39.18 billion from $24.6 billion a year ago.
