Developers Ricardo Dunin and Ophir Sternberg are doing something that takes a lot of courage and optimism. Today they will ask the City of Miami Beach Planning Board to rezone the former home of the Miami Heart Institute for a high-end condominium project.

For years, Miami Beach residents have fought hard to curtail redevelopment of the 7.1-acre site. Now vacant, the heart institute was part of Mount Sinai Medical Center, which sold it to the developers in February.
