A $300 million judgment that was reduced to under $37 million was still too much, Philip Morris USA argued, but the Fourth District Court of Appeal disagreed.

“A verdict is not excessive just because it is large,” Fourth District Judge Mark Polen wrote in a 12-page opinion favoring ex-smoker Cindy Naugle, sister of former Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle.
