Making a statement in defense of commercial speech Thursday, the Florida Supreme Court struck down a 2008 law that bans public insurance adjusters from contacting customers within 48 hours of a disaster.
The Legislature passed the law after the 2004-05 hurricane seasons with the aim of curbing the conduct of adjusters who might be putting undue pressure on traumatized victims to get them into service contracts.
