Jungle Island is putting on hold its plan to expand the venue and restructure its debt with taxpayers.
The attraction’s representatives were to appear before the Miami City Commission today to seek a November referendum asking for voter support. A proposed referendum would have to be approved by the commission at its Thursday meeting in order for it to appear on the November ballot. Jungle Island executives opted to take additional time to develop a more concrete plan for expansion and debt restructuring, rather than rush to meet the deadline.
