After seven weeks of adjusting to a $29.5 million budget cut that forced court clerks to reduce their operating hours, the state Legislative Budget Commission on Thursday approved the governor’s request to restore most of the money.

The clerks were given budget authority to collect an expected increase in fees and fine collections, said John Dew, executive director of the Florida Clerks of Court Operations Corp., the agency that determines distribution of funds to the state’s 67 clerks.
