Florida judges opposed term limits on chief judges and speech restrictions during arguments Wednesday before the state Supreme Court but appeared to do little to sway the majority.

Attorney Talbot D’Alemberte, speaking for the Florida Conference of Circuit Judges, argued there was no need for a rule the high court issued in February that would impose an eight-year cap on chief circuit judges, who previously were subject to no limits.
