Admittedly hampered by a federal judge’s sanctions ruling, attorneys for TD Bank said Tuesday their client deserves a new trial on at least the damage portion of a case brought by investors who said they were cheated by imprisoned former lawyer Scott Rothstein.

A jury in January awarded Texas-based Coquina Investments LLC $67 million for aiding and abetting Rothstein in his fraud predicated on phony court settlements.
