The president of The Florida Bar has joined the chorus of critics attacking the Republican Party of Florida’s decision to oppose the three state Supreme Court justices up for retention in the general election.

Gwynne Young released a statement late Tuesday saying, “A fair and impartial judiciary, free from political or special interest influence, is the purpose of Florida’s nonpartisan merit retention elections for appellate judges.”
