South Florida is known for many things that are “hot” (weather, food and nightlife come to mind), but patent litigation is not usually one of them.
Yet the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida is becoming a hot venue for resolving patent disputes. There has been a 30 percent per year increase in patent filings since 2009, and the Southern District is one of 14 districts participating in Congress’ Patent Pilot Program to develop expertise in patent litigation.
