The Florida Supreme Court issued revised rules Thursday to set the stage for more electronic court filings and email transmission of court documents.
Electronic filings and email service will be mandatory in the criminal, traffic and juvenile divisions Oct. 1, 2013. Electronic filings will be voluntary until then. The delay on mandatory filings is based on financial objections offered by prosecutors, public defenders and regional conflict counsel.
