Five white male managing partners of large law firms largely acknowledged that their firms and the legal industry as a whole have not done enough to promote and retain female lawyers.

Bowman Brown of Shutts & Bowen, Steven Sonberg of Holland & Knight, Andrew Smulian of Akerman Senterfitt, Bruce McLean of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and Herman Knott of Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft in Germany were panelists discussing challenges in law firm management Friday. The standing-room-only discussion was part of the American Bar Association’s annual international law conference in Miami Beach.
