The first legal break for a Miami-Dade County man who struck his wife with a hot iron may have been his last.

In a plea bargain Rolando Martinez, 27, pleaded to one count of simple battery and one count of aggravated battery, and adjudication of guilt was withheld. He was placed on two years of probation instead of the more than 21 months set by sentencing guidelines.
