Florida is now only one of six states refusing to ban the practice of texting while driving.

In fact, 2012 marked the seventh year in a row that the Florida legislature could have voted on a total or partial ban on the use of hand-held mobile phones while driving and adjourned without producing a single law governing the known hazards of distracted driving. This legislative denial flies in the face of overwhelming data and empirical evidence that texting while driving now contributes to one in four motor vehicle collisions.
