Creditors seeking title to a Bahamian island the late interior designer of Gianni Versace’s mansion sold to a Coral Gables developer facing bank fraud charges may find their legal action is better in the Bahamas.

New York-based Hotel 71 Mezz Lender LLC and Carbon Capital II garnished the estate of designer James Wallace Tutt III and targeted his $2.9 million sale of the one-acre Caribe Cay to developer Guy Mitchell. The central issue was whether the sale had been completed. A done deal would leave Tutt’s estate no longer subject to garnishment.
