U.S. stocks fell as speculation that an eight-day rally in the Dow Jones Industrial Average was overdone overshadowed a report showing retail sales increased in February by the most in five months.

Spectrum Pharmaceuticals Inc., a maker of cancer medicines, plunged 36 percent after saying sales will miss analysts’ estimates. Express Inc. tumbled 9.9 after forecasting first-quarter and full-year earnings below estimates. Netflix Inc. jumped 3.8 percent after announcing new social features integrated with Facebook Inc. Coach Inc. added 1.3 percent as Citigroup Inc. raised its rating on the company.
