A protracted battle over how much Miami Beach lawyer Daniel Tropp would pay took a negative turn in his long-running divorce case when he accused the judge of being biased against him.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Leon Firtel disqualified himself but referred Tropp for possible disciplinary action to The Florida Bar. Its ethics complaint charged Tropp’s bias claims "lack candor, are without merit and wrongfully impugn Judge Firtel."
