The owners of a Charter Club condo unit in Miami were thousands of dollars behind on their assessments and negotiated to let a tenant pay rent directly to their association to offset the debt.

But while they were talking, the association’s lawyer told Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Abby Cynamon he had searched diligently for Pedro and Norma Castro but was unable to determine whether they were dead or alive.
