The competition to transform the 52-acre Miami-Beach Convention Center complex is heating up.
Portman-CMC, one of two teams vying to redevelop the city-owned property north of Lincoln Road, scored a victory in the selection process Tuesday when it received the backing of the center's advisory board on a 4-3 vote as the preferred team for the $1.2 billion job. The group is a partnership of Atlanta-based Portman Holdings LLC and Miami-based CMC Group Inc.
