Billionaire Leo A. Vecellio Jr., whose family has been in the construction business since the 1930s, returns to court Monday, hoping his $14 million lawsuit alleging shoddy construction at his Palm Beach retreat may yield more through the judge than it did from a jury.
In January 2008, Vecellio and his wife, Kathryn, bought the 1.6-acre estate with a $42.5 million mortgage. It was built on spec for the previous owners, Dean and Laura DeSantis, by Addison Construction Corp.
