Broward Circuit Judge Laura Watson’s attempt to stop an ethics trial for lack of jurisdiction was denied by a judge on Florida’s Fifth District Court of Appeal.

Judge Kerry Evander, presiding over a Judicial Qualifications Commission hearing panel, found the state Constitution allowed the JQC to look into any allegations of wrongdoing in the past. His decision, reached Wednesday afternoon during a telephonic hearing, removed the last barrier to trial.
