Lawyers representing One Bal Harbour Resort & Spa and its creditors are trying to rejuvenate and revitalize the luxury spa resort and residences partly by slashing the $2.8 million legal bills submitted by McDonald Hopkins partner Jorge J. Perez in the resort’s bankruptcy case.

McDonald Hopkins’ 1,369 pages of hourly billing records filed with the court April 2 are in mediation. The parties will either reach a negotiated settlement of the bill this month, or the matter goes back to litigation with a hearing scheduled for December. One session was held with mediator Frances Carter of Katz, Barron, Squitero, Faust, Friedberg, English & Allen.
