A jury awarded $260,000 to a woman who claimed she suffered permanent neck and back pain from a broadside accident.

Karen Mendez-Ruiz, then 28, was driving a Toyota sedan on Coral Way at Southwest 14th Avenue in Miami when Travis Grayson drove his Scion mini truck through a stop sign and struck the driver’s front side of her vehicle. Grayson conceded liability. Mendez-Ruiz was diagnosed with disc herniations at C4-5 and L4-5 and an annular tear at L4-5. She claimed she had residual back and neck pain and discomfort. She claimed she suffered a loss of range of motion.
