The value of total contracts for the future construction of nonresidential and residential projects in South Florida declined by 57 percent year over year for the month of September, according to Dodge Research and Analytics, a unit of McGraw Hill Construction.

In the nonresidential sector, contract activity was off 65 percent to $171.7 million in September of this year against the $496.8 million reported in September 2012. The residential sector showed a 48 percent drop to nearly $268 million from $516.9 million in the same year-over-year period.
