For eight years, video equipment dealer Eileen Garcia and ex-husband Vincent DiRosa lived under the constant threat of a lawsuit by a former business associate.

Then a series of rapid-fire moves by their attorneys dismantled their adversary’s case. They bought an uncollected judgment in an unrelated case to use as leverage and benefited from deposition admissions by the ex-partner, David Haylock. Stripped of critical evidence, he lacked the means to win a trial. The Miami-Dade Circuit case was dismissed Oct. 3, the day it was scheduled for trial.
