The Daily Business Review won two awards in the Florida Press Club’s 62nd annual Excellence in Journalism Awards.
The DBR received a third-place award in the category of minority reporting for a package by reporter Julie Kay and research director Vala Lopez on diversity in the law. Lopez surveyed Florida law firms, and Kay’s accompanying story illustrated how poorly many law firms were faring in retaining and promoting women and noted one major law firm had never named a woman partner in its Miami office.
