Lower Manhattan’s 1 World Trade Center is the tallest tower in the U.S., the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat said Tuesday.
The Chicago-based group’s height committee decided that the New York skyscraper’s 408-foot spire is part of the architecture of the building and counts as part of its official span. At 1,776 feet, 1 World Trade Center surpasses Chicago’s Willis Tower as the country’s tallest building.
