A jury awarded $150,000 to a black Wal-Mart cashier who claimed a hostile working environment existed at the North Miami store.
Rokisha Taylor, then in her 20s, claimed store managers failed to take any remedial action after a customer cursed at her and called her the N-word. Taylor claimed Wal-Mart management failed to ask the customer to leave or apologize to her. She claimed that due to her refusal to complete the transaction, Wal-Mart subsequently retaliated against her by firing her.
