The struggling Metropolitan Hospital of Miami got an injection of cash and is heading for a makeover after being scooped up by a Tampa-based real estate investment trust.

The 146-bed hospital south of Miami International Airport changed hands May 2 in a $47 million transaction between Metropolitan Health Community Service Corp. and HC 5959 NW 7th St LLC, a company linked to Carter Validus Mission Critical REIT Inc.
