The Advisory Committee on Civil Rules is the arm of the Judicial Conference of the United States responsible for the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The committee issued proposed rules that were the subject of public comment from August to February.
The advisory committee received more than 2,200 written comments and heard testimony from over 120 witnesses at three public hearings held in Washington, Phoenix and Dallas. At its meeting April 10-11, the advisory committee adopted amendments to Rules 1, 4, 16, 26, 34, and 37 and abrogated Rule 84.
