In one of the more sordid crimes associated with disbarred law firm chairman Scott Rothstein’s $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, a fired Broward sheriff’s lieutenant received the maximum five-year prison sentence Monday for serving as the con man’s muscle.
David Benjamin, once the third-ranking officer under former Sheriff Al Lamberti, was handcuffed and led away in front of Marcy Romeo, the woman he arranged to have falsely arrested.
