Suspended Broward County Court Judge Gisele Pollack said in court Thursday that she was sober for 19 years, but she picked up a drink last December after her son became permanently disabled and her mother died.

“I thought I was strong enough to handle this, but I wasn’t,” she told Miami-Dade County Count Judge Andrea Wolfson, who was brought to Fort Lauderdale to handle her case.
