The Florida Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear a same-sex divorce case forwarded by the Second District Court of Appeal, but that won’t hinder progress on efforts by gay couples to marry or divorce, a family law attorney said.
The high court declined jurisdiction in Mariama Shaw v. Keiba Shaw for the same reason given by Second District Judge Chris Altenbernd, who concluded in a dissent the circuit judge “offered no reasoning as to the issue on appeal.”
