A federal magistrate, a state circuit judge and a former jurist in private practice are the finalists for an opening on the federal bench in South Florida.

The Florida Federal Judicial Nominating Commission met Thursday and chose as finalists U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry S. Seltzer, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Peter Lopez and attorney Mary Barzee Flores, a shareholder in the litigation division of Stearns Weaver Miller Alhadeff & Sitterson in Miami.
