The alleged torture of convicted terrorist Jose Padilla, the so-called suspected dirty bomber, at the hands of his own U.S. government loomed large in the resentencing Tuesday of the former Chicago gang member.

U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke resentenced Padilla to 21 years in prison, just four more than what she originally meted out following his 2007 trial in Miami.
