The native of Providence, R.I., moved to Florida after he was discharged from the Marine Corps after serving in the Korean War. He smoked Lucky Strike, Viceroy and Winston brands, all companies acquired by R.J. Reynolds Co. Ellsworth was married twice and had a daughter, Carrie, with cerebral palsy.
