A Leon circuit judge’s response to a drunken juror had the Florida Supreme Court considering tighter rules Tuesday for judges to jail people for contempt.

Judge Angela Dempsey sentenced Noel Plank to 30 days in the county jail after he showed up drunk for jury selection and fell asleep. She later reduced the sentence to 15 days. Under current rules, anyone found in contempt can be jailed for up to 179 days.
