A Loxahatchee man twice convicted in a double killing will get a third trial because of an error in jury instructions about the state’s stand your ground law.

John Thomas Dorsey was given two consecutive life sentences in 2009 in the shooting deaths of Stephen Beau Bunting, 20, and John Lott, 19, at a 2006 keg party. Because the state did not prove he acted with ill will, he was retried in 2012 and convicted of two counts of manslaughter. He is scheduled for release in 2049.
