As a prosecutor handling homicide cases, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Orlando Prescott realized growing up in the inner city helped him connect with the families of victims in a way few could.
“I could tell someone, ‘I know how you feel. I have made that trip to the morgue where I had to identify my sister after her being murdered,’ ” he said.
