A Miami federal jury has convicted a Peruvian man of running a shakedown scam by threatening Spanish-speaking victims from call centers in his native country.
Juan Rodriguez Cuya, 35, was convicted Friday of 26 counts of fraud and other charges after less than two hours of deliberations following a two-week trial before U.S. District Judge Patricia A. Seitz in Miami.
