A state appellate court on Wednesday overturned the 2007 first-degree murder conviction of a man accused of gunning down a witness set to testify against him in a burglary case.
The Fourth District Court of Appeal said Eddie Vincent Rutledge’s Sixth Amendment right to counsel was violated because his defense attorney was possibly being investigated for witness tampering.
