A 12-member jury on Tuesday convicted suspended North Miami Mayor Marie Lucie Tondreau for conducting an $8 million mortgage fraud scheme before she was elected.

Tondreau, one of South Florida’s most popular Haitian-American politicians, was arrested in May after she was indicted along with her former fiance, Karl Oreste, president of KMC Mortgage Corp.
