Greenberg Traurig attorneys advising the Florida Association of County Clerks warned—with one exception—the members risk criminal prosecution if they issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after a federal court stay expires Jan. 5.
After reviewing developments in lawsuits pending before U.S. District Judge Robert Lewis Hinkle in Tallahassee, the Greenberg Traurig legal team said Monday that his decision applies only in Washington County, the only county singled out as a defendant.
