A jury has awarded a food-service worker about $539,000 in damages after a collision with a Delray Beach police patrol car in March 2009.

Patricia Miley, 56, suffered a concussion, a compression fracture of her thoracic spine and other injuries after the patrol car driven by officer Michael Brown collided with her sedan at Southeast 10th Street and Federal Highway. Miley alleged Brown, en route to a call about a burglary in progress, didn’t have his emergency lights or siren on when he drove through a red light.
